In 1999, the Hackettstown Community Hospital Foundation (now known as Hackettstown Regional Medical Center Foundation) launched the Dan Allen Society, named in honor of the hospital's first board president.
Dan Allen was elected president of the hospital's board when it was merely the dream of two dozen townspeople. As a local gentleman farmer, Allen was committed to the Hackettstown community and made the first pledge of $62,500 to build the facility. He dedicated the gift in memory of his wife, whose life, he felt, might have been saved if a hospital had been nearby. When Dan Allen passed away, the hospital was the recipient of a sizeable bequest as part of his Last Will and Testament.
The Dan Allen Society is composed of people who have indicated that they have already made a provision for Hackettstown Regional Medical Center (or the HRMC Foundation) in their estate plan, or have stated the intention of doing so within a designated time frame.
Hackettstown Regional Medical Center has benefited greatly from the generosity of many community-minded individuals over the past three decades. Bequests, both large and small, received by Hackettstown Regional Medical Center and the HRMC Foundation have allowed the Medical Center to expand its facility and services to meet the ever-increasing health care needs of a growing population.
