Wound Healing Center Receives National Recognition

HRMC Wound Healing Center Offers Progressive Treatment Options

Healing is typically a natural process, but for diabetics and patients with certain skin, bone and tissue conditions, healing is not something that can ever be taken for granted. Even for an otherwise healthy individual, generally, any wound that fails to show signs of significant healing within 30 days should be evaluated by a physician immediately.

Wound Healing Physicians Panel

Fortunately, HRMCs Wound Healing Center is staffed with expert doctors and clinical staff all specialists in the latest therapeutic methods of wound management and wound healing.

Individuals who suffer from wounds that fail to heal should call the Wound Healing Center at (908) 979-8788.

If you or someone you know is at risk and/or has a slow-healing wound that has not healed in 30 days, seek the advice of your doctor and contact the Wound Healing Center for information or to make an appointment. One of our eight specially trained panel physicians will evaluate your wound and determine the best course of treatment. You may reach the Wound Healing Center at (908) 979-8788.

The causes of wounds are complex, so our physicians possess expertise in all of the major areas of medicine necessary to handle the varied circumstances and challenges of treating non-healing wounds. They can readily evaluate a wound and outline a specific treatment plan tailored to each individual patient and wound.

The Wound Healing Center offers a comprehensive range of programs for highly effective wound management, including advanced treatment modalities such as transcutaneous oxygen measurement, dressing changes, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and wound debridement.

We specialize in treating patients with the following conditions:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous stasis ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Skin tears
  • Any wound that has not
shown signs of improvement within 30 days

  • Post surgical incision
  • Radiation wounds
  • Burns
  • Traumatic injuries

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Twenty percent of wound treatment plans require the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO). Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a medical treatment that increases the amount of oxygen in the patient's blood, allowing oxygen to pass more easily through the plasma and into the wounds to heal them. HBO chambers surround patients with 100% oxygen at higher than normal atmospheric pressure. The Wound Healing Center now offers the latest state-of-the-art outpatient hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Conditions for HBO treatment include:

  • Diabetic ulcers of the lower extremities
  • Acute peripheral arterial insufficiency
  • Acute traumatic peripheral ischemia
  • Compromised skin grafts
  • Osteoradionecrosis
  • Progressive necrotizing infections
  • Actinomycosis
  • Chronic refractory osteomyelitis
  • Soft tissue radionecrosis
  • Crush injuries
  • Gas gangrene

Other non-wound conditions for HBO treatment include:

  • Acute CO intoxication
  • Decompression illness
  • Gas embolism
  • Cyanide poisoning
  • Weighing more than one ton, the HBO chamber resembles a reclining bed inside a large, clear acrylic shell. Patients are able to listen to music or watch television and movies while undergoing treatment. The only physical sensation from the treatment is a slight pressure on the eardrums, such as that felt on a landing airplane.

Each member of the Wound Healing Centers attentive and skilled nursing staff has received special training and certification to care for patients while they are in the chamber.
